    Sano Genetics

As Content & Communications Manager at biotechnology start-up Sano Genetics, I was responsible for creating and implementing the company’s entire content strategy. From blogs, web-content, and social media & email campaigns, to customised client content and press coverage, I built and managed a fast-moving multichannel strategy. I also led on brand messaging and tone of voice, managed the company's podcast, and contributed regularly to user experience and product development by designing, distributing and analysing customer surveys.

My 5+ years in science communications, in both NGOs and startups, means I’m comfortable working in highly specialist fields and passionate about making complex subject matter accessible to non-specialist audiences.

  • Talents gift shop website

    Independent businesses

I support small businesses to take their products and services online or grow their brand to the next level. During the pandemic I supported bricks and mortar giftshop of 30 years, Talents, to take its business online for the first time with the launch of a brand new website and social media channels.

I worked closely with the business’s owners to create a brand tone and image which effectively translates and represents the physical business in the digital world, creating a distinctive brand voice, website copy and product descriptions.

I pride myself on my personable interview style and ability to put people at their ease, enabling me to tell truly compelling human stories.

I placed, wrote and researched a thought-leadership feature on ‘How Microbiomes can Save the Planet’ for the CEO of a Cambridge-based biodata company.

I broke down highly complex topics to create a feature for Scientific American, the online edition of which receives millions of views per month

    Metro Online

While working for the European Bioinformatics Institue, I wrote and researched a thought-leadership article on the future of DNA storage for the institute’s Head of Research, Nick Goldman.

The piece was featured in Metro Online’s ‘Future of Everything’ series, boosting the institute’s profile in the United Kingdom's highest-circulation freesheet tabloid newspaper.
