National news

I covered breaking news stories for the East of England during my time with a national news agency. Covering a wide range of topics including crime, human interest and science, my stories appeared in The Daily Telgraph, The Daily Mirror, The Independent and more.

East Anglian Daily Times

Working as a reporter for this regional daily paper I covered a huge variety of stories from across East Anglia. My stories ranged from council crackdowns on county-lines gangs, to the heart-warming story of ‘Stevie Wonder the miracle hedgehog’.

Saffron Walden Reporter & Dunmow Broadcast

I worked as the lead reporter for these two weekly publications, writing content for the print and online editions of both papers and scooping two front pages in my first week on the job.

Stories I covered ranged from the serious impact of the local housing crisis, to light-hearted human interest features including a day-in-the-life of a guide dog trainer.

I also provided creative ideas for new features, competitions and increased social media engagement.

The Brighton Argus

During my NCTJ training I worked as a reporter for Brighton’s local paper. As a trainee reporter I sourced and wrote my own stories, including how noise bans were threatening the future of the city’s music venues and the activists who built a pop-up kitchen to feed the homeless.

Other highlights included coverage of the 2015 General Election and producing content for the Brighton Fringe Festival guide.
